Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or just spending time in your own backyard, we're here to make sure you're equipped to have a great 4th of July.

Local Events

Most cities that are still participating in firework shows this year have reported that they are actually launching them higher in the sky so you can see them from a distance to avoid tightly packed crowds.
Carmel's Backyard CarmelFest
Carmel's plan is to have fireworks easily viewable from backyards around town or from outdoor dining at local restaurants. Fireworks will start at 9:45 and will launch from 3 different locations: West Side (West Park, 2700 W. 116th St), Central Carmel (Chase Court between Range Line Rd and Guiford Ave), and East Side (Badget Field, 5459 E. Main Street). More Info
Gilroy Fireworks
Gilroy will be launching fireworks but will be closing the surrounding areas, encouraging people to view them from home or from a safe distance. Fireworks will launch from Gilroy High School at dusk and can be seen from a 2.5 mile radius. More Info

Los Altos Hills Caravan Parade
Los Altos Hills will be hosting a caravan parade around town including decorated classic cars. Starting at 10am, the parade will start at town hall and go to West Fremont Rd, Robleda Rd, Purissima Rd, Arastradero, and end at the C.E.R.T. Station on West Fremont Rd. People are encouraged to view from the sidewalk at a safe distance from others. More Info

Fire up the Grill

Put on your New Balances, tuck your American flag t-shirt into your jean shorts and pick up your spatula.

Grilling Guide
Burgers, chicken, pork, veggies, fish, you name it. Here's the ultimate grilling guide to ensure you have a delicious 4th of July.

On the Lighter Side
There are certain side dishes that are practically mandatory at a barbecue: corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta salad, and baked beans to name a few. But if you want to take your bbq side dishes a bit further, try a peach-and-fennel slaw, or spicy charred fava bean pods. Here's a great list of BBQ side recipes.
The "UV Liberty" Cocktail
This is basically a spiked ice cream float made for the 4th of July. All you need is UV Blue raspberry vodka, raspberry sherbet, and lemon-lime soda to make this sweet and refreshing drink. Check out the full recipe here.
